UNS — Surakarta Major, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, reviewed the implementation of face-to-face (PTM) learning in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta on Wednesday (8/9/2021). The visit was his third visit to UNS, and he met with the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, in three consecutive weeks. This time, Gibran visited three faculties, Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS, Faculty of Law (FH) UNS, and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNS.

The Rector of UNS accompanied the major in each faculty visit. In FK UNS, Gibran Rakabuming Raka also reviewed the implementation of blood donors and Covid-19 survivor screening in FK UNS Hall. He also greeted the faculty members and academic staff who went through the donor processes. From FK, the major visited FH and FEB UNS and reviewed the PTM implementation. In FEB UNS, the major also greeted the first-semester students who participated in hybrid learning in the classroom and those participating through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform.

To uns.ac.id after visited FEB UNS, Gibran Rakabuming Raka said that he appreciated the student’s spirits to participate in the classroom and to learn through the Zoom Cloud Meeting.

“Today, I was accompanied by the Rector and the Dean to visit FK, FH, and FEB. I could see that UNS has a very tight health protocol. And I observed that students are in high spirit and through online also enthusiastic about learning from other cities,” the Major stated.

He also encouraged students from outside Solo who got their first vaccine to push and get their second jab so that whenever UNS opens its PTM gradually, and Solo has a lower risk, they could come to Surakarta soon. He also explained that students do not need to feel anxious about getting vaccinated because it aims to create herd immunity. “If people around you are vaccinated, it aims to protect you,” he said.

Review the PTM Implementation in UNS, Surakarta Major Greeted the Students

The visit was appreciated by Prof. Jamal, who stated that PTM in UNS was opened based on Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s idea, who does not want the university students to experience more learning loss. After learning through online media for 1.5 years, many UNS students cannot wait to go to the campus. Online learning is also deemed to give difficulties for teachers in delivering their materials to the students.

“Discussing PTM with Mas Gibran, the energetic major. Campus life is tried gradually and conditionally. After 1.5 years, what if we silaturahmi and how to implement the PTM,” Prof. Jamal said.

Bintang, a student who participated in FEB UNS PTM, shared his thanks to UNS for holding PTM. He mentioned that face-to-face learning in the classroom makes it easier for him to understand the materials delivered directly by the teacher, especially in mathematics fields.

“Truthfully, did not expect Mas Gibran to come. I am thrilled to finally come to the campus because online, it is often awkward and feels like there is a limit or distance with the teacher.” The first-semester student from Sragen said. Humas UNS
