UNS — Health and Company Hygiene and Work Safety Program (K3) Vocational School (SV) students Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the favorite award in the Health Promotional Video (Promkes) competition. The competition was held to commemorate the 18th Anniversary of the Community Health Program (Kesmas) Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ). The winners were announced through the Kesmas UPNVJ Anniversary official Instagram account on Monday (16/8/2021).
The team has three members Khairunnisa Salmaa Salsabila, Nathavania Gabriela Mulia Karina, and Beatrick Rosita; all are K3 program SV UNS students. The competition theme “The Role of Young Generation in Developing Healthy Lifestyle in the Community” inspired them to promote coffee consumption in an appropriate amount.
Khairunnisa Salmaa Salsabila explained to the uns.ac.id that in their video, they explained the facts around coffee consumption that many people do not know, which contradicts the famous trends of coffee drinking among the youths. “One of us is a coffee drinker to keep her focused when doing assignments. Thus, we got this idea to discuss coffee,” Khairunnisa Salmaa Salsabila explained on Thursday (27/8/2021).
Coffee is also selected because they want to make a video that fully educates the community. Moreover, if it shows interesting facts that people are not aware of, their video delivered much educative information, such as the bad habits related to coffee consumption, for example, drinking coffee to stay awake, adding creamer, and cold serving of coffee.
Overconsumption of coffee poses a great risk for its drinkers, such as addiction, palpitations, pancreatic issues, and trigger cancer. Coffee should also be avoided by pregnant women with a history of difficulty falling asleep and hypertension. However, these negative effects can be avoided by consuming coffee properly because coffee also has benefits for health, such as reducing headaches, improving alertness and concentration, enriching the body’s antioxidants, and reducing the risk of breast cancer.
In their video, the team also shared tips on consuming coffee properly, first, reducing the intensity of consumption and consuming in the right dosage and right time. Second, changing coffee with water, juices, and green tea. Third, changing robusta coffee with high caffeine with decaf coffee. The key points that the team wants to deliver through their video are coffee has a health benefit when consumed in the right dosage and right time: 300 milligrams or 3 cups a day. They also reminded that small bad habits could contribute to the low immune system amid the pandemic.
Representing her team, Khairunnisa Salmaa Salsabila said that she is thankful for their achievement. They have shared their video to educate the community in general. She also hoped that the viewers, especially the young generation, got knowledge on when the right time to consume coffee. “What is the dosage and they could get benefits from coffee, for example, to add concentration for studying and other benefits,” Khairunnisa Salmaa Salsabila explained.
