UNS — Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (SPMB) (Student Admission Office) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held webinar series on ‘The Success Strategy for National Examination of National Public University Admission (SNMPTN) 2021’. The online event was broadcasted through the Universitas Sebelas Maret YouTube channel on Monday (18/1/2021).
The event was opened by a remark from Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M. Hum. who hopes that the webinar will help Senior High School teachers and students to understand and to provide information on UNS. “Through this webinar, I hope that Senior High School students and teachers will have the same and correct information so that you can prepare for the examination. Additionally, participants also will know UNS better,” Prof. Jamal stated.
The webinar invited four speakers, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S., Prof. Dr. Hadiwiyono, M. Si., Widiyanto, S.P., M. Si., Ph.D., and Rory Asyari, M.A. and Dr. Intan Novela QA as moderator. After Prof. Jamal’s remark, the first session belongs to Prof. Yunus, who shared UNS excellences as Public University with Legal Entity since 6 October 2020. UNS is also included in cluster 1 or the leading cluster of the Best 11 Public Universities in Indonesia and holds an A accreditation from BAN-PT UNS. At the international level, UNS ranked 401-450 in QS Asia ranking.
Prof. Yunus continues with UNS future and global-oriented curriculum and its international standard learning facilities. Amid the pandemic, the university implemented distance learning through its Open Course Ware (OCW) and Sistem Pembelajaran Daring (SPADA) (Online Learning System) applications. Prof. Yunus also explained the scholarships and programs offered by UNS.
The sharing session was followed by Prof. Dr. Hadiwiyono, M. Si. as the Executive Secretary of SPMB UNS, who explained the competition level to be enrolled to UNS. Prof. Hadiwiyono reminded the participants to pay attention to students’ talents and interests and be realistic. The session was followed by Widiyanto, Ph.D. presentation as the Deputy of the undergraduate program of SPMB UNS.
Widiyanto, Ph.D., explained the UNS admission process in detail and three tracks that students can take. The first track is the SNMPTN with a minimum quota of 20%, the Joint Examination of National Public University Admission (SBMPTN) with a minimum quota of 30%, and the Independent Admission Examination (Seleksi Mandiri) with a minimum quota of 50%.
The session was delivered by Rory Asyari, M.A. as an independent journalist and entrepreneur who shared his education journey in UNS. During his study, Rory wan enrolled in Communication Science Program. He encouraged university students to understand what objectives they want to achieve.
