UNS — Singing and traditional costume competitions enlivened the celebration of the 78th anniversary (HUT) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI). Both competitions were held at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram UNS Auditorium on Thursday (17/8/2023) after the flag-hosting ceremony in commemoration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.
In his remarks, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., expressed his gratitude to the entire UNS academic community who attended the ceremony and participated in the competitions held at UNS to commemorate the 78th Indonesia Independence Day.
“Thank you to everyone present in the auditorium for enlivening the final singing and traditional costume competitions. Also, thanks to the competition participants who have prepared since morning to take part in this event,” Prof. Jamal said.
There were 11 participants in the final singing and traditional costume competition, ready to compete before the judging panel. The judging panel consisted of Prof. Dr. Ir. Maria Theresia Sri Budiastuti, M.Sc., Ana Fitri Andriani, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. and Maria Rosa Lunetta Padmarini. These 11 participants in the final singing and traditional costume competitions came from the Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD), Graduate School, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Faculty of Law (FH), Vocational School (SV), Dharma Wanita Persatuan ( DWP), Faculty of Psychology, Human Resources Division (HRD) of Head Office, General Affairs Division of Head Office, Campus Ambassadors, and Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP).
“Before these participants reached the final, they first participated in the preliminary round, which was attended by 26 participants on August 15th. Then, 11 participants were selected to participate in the singing competition,” Prof. Jamal explained.
In the competition, participants sang regional or national songs. Additionally, the traditional costumes worn by the participants were also contested. In this competition, three winners were chosen for the singing competition, three winners for the traditional costume competition, and one favorite winner. For the singing competition, the first place was achieved by the representative from the UNS Campus Ambassadors, the second place was won by the FH representative, and the third place was won by the representative from the Faculty of Psychology. As for the traditional costume competition, the first place was earned by the representative from the Graduate School, the second place by the SV representative, and the third place by the representative from FISIP. The favorite winner was won by the DWP UNS representative.
The event was made even more lively with the appearance of Indonesian Idol alumni, Olla Rosa. “Furthermore, prizes were awarded for the winners of the sarong relay race, the relay carrying rubber with a straw, the water relay, and the blindfolded marching,” he concluded.
