UNS — Commemorating Chinese New Year and spring, the Diploma Program (D-3) in Mandarin Language, Vocational School (SV) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held Virtual Spring Break (Spring Camp Virtual) on 15-19 February 2021. The event runs for five days under the Diploma Program (D-3) in Mandarin Language collaboration with Xihua University, China.
The Dean of SV UNS, Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto, M.Acc., Ak. opened the online event held through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform on Monday (15/2/2021). Attending the opening ceremony was Xihua University Vice-Rector, Prof. Feiling; Xihua University International Collaboration Representative, Zhang Long; Chief of China Mandarin Language Center, Lu Yu; Chief of UNS Mandarin Language Center, Stephanie Phanata; and the Head of Diploma Program (D-3) in Mandarin Language Program UNS, Kristina Indah S.R.
This year, Spring Camp Virtual was joined by 80 participants, students from universities such as SV UNS, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Kristen Petra, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, and Universitas Huaqiao China. Students from Trilingual School Putera Harapan, Purwokerto also participated in the event.
Under the theme “Wandering in Bashu Plains”, the committee hoped that participants would better understand the Chinese culture. Bashu is a local culture of Sichuan Province. The theme invited participants to understand Bashu better.
The selected virtual approach did not reduce participant’s enthusiasm in joining every session. Besides exciting materials, the event also included various competitions, including craft making, poetry, and drawing. Participants who won the competition received interesting rewards from Xihua University teachers.
After five days, the event was closed by a representative from Xihua University, Zhang Yimin, on Friday (19/02/2021). Participant’s enthusiasm encouraged the committee to conduct similar events in the following years. Humas UNS
