UNS — Delighting news came from History Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. Two students from this program won the first position in the National Scientific Article Competition in History Week Universitas Lambung Mangkurat 2020. These excellent students are Davena Salsabila and Muhammad Lukman Ramadinata.
The competition was organized by the History Education Student Association Universitas Lambung Mangkurat and was held online. In an interview with uns.ac.id, Davena conveyed that the idea that they discussed is the tourism potential of local history surrounding Peristiwa Geger Pecinan (Chinese Town Riot) in Kartasura through Keraton Kartasura (Kartasura Palace) sites in the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Davena explained that this historical event could be studied and preserved through its tourism potential and historical imprint in Keraton Kartasura.
“We offered alternative steps for Sukoharjo District Department of Tourism and people of Sukoharjo. The steps started from the planning stage to the post-implementation stage to ensure that the tourism destination can be implemented well and be developed in line with the industrial revolution 4.0.,” she stated on Friday (4/12/2020).
Davena and Lukman win over a dozen rivals from various universities in Indonesia. The total participants who joined the competition were 63 participants from individual and team participants. The committee selected top five participants to provide a presentation on their paper through the paper selection process held from 12 October – 2 November 2020. When the result was announced on 16 November 2020, Davena and Lukman admitted that they were delighted to win the first position.
“Alhamdulillah, we feel happy and satisfied with the result of our efforts and to be able to bring proud name for UNS alma mater, especially for our program, History Education,” she stated.
Davena hopes that their achievement can encourage them to compete and create achievements in other events. “Hopefully, we can win another competition in the future, especially in the history discipline with a larger number of participants. Hopefully, this can inspire the new students and our junior in History Education Program to gain achievement even amid the pandemic,” she concluded. Humas UNS
