The First in UNS History: UNS Inaugurated Six Professors in One Day

UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, inaugurated six new professors in an offline and online inauguration ceremony on Tuesday (9/3/2021) in G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium. The six new professors are Prof. Dr. Bandi, M.Si., Ak., CA, CT, CPA as a Professor in Accounting Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Prof. Dr. Izza Mafruhah, S.E., M.Si. as a Professor in Development Economy FEB, Prof. Dr. Joko Triyono, S.T., M.T. as a Professor in Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Engineering (FT), Prof. Dr. Ir. Sudadi, M.P., as a Professor in Organic Fertilizer Faculty of Agriculture (FP), Prof. Dr. Ir. Endang Yuniastuti, M.Si. as a Professor in Plant Genetics FP UNS, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Supriyadi, M.S. as a Professor in Plant Pest Science FP UNS.

In his remark, Prof. Jamal stated that this the first time for UNS to inaugurate six professors in one ceremony. The addition of six professors into the university renew UNS professor counts; 235 people with 131 active professors.

“In the Higher Education with Legal Entity (PTNBH) era, professors are demanded to innovate and become one of the PTNBH performance success measures. Innovative works are the key performance because it is believed that they can promote economic growth and nation development,” Prof. Jamal explained in his speech.

Higher education is the most responsive and prepared institution to act as a reference in facing the rapid growth of science and technology. “This is why with our knowledge authority, the presence of a professor is vital to create a strategic center of excellence. This creation will promote the success of UNS and the sustainability of the Indonesian nation and the country,” Prof. Jamal added.

Prof. Jamal invited the new professors to be more productive, conduct more research, write books, publish scientific papers in accredited international journals, and produce innovative works. Moreover, in 2021, the Ministry of Research and Technology/Institute for Research and Innovation Indonesia (BRIN) has granted leading research funds for 12 PTNBH with a total of IDR 399.3 billion. According to Prof. Jamal, this grant is a golden opportunity to prove its advanced research and innovation cluster, which can provide answers to the increasingly complex and complicated future challenges.

Prof. Jamal concluding his remark with a pantun. “Nikmatnya seduhan kopi robusta (o the feast of robusta coffee brew), disajikan hangat dipagi hari (served in the morning time). Hadirnya guru besar baru membuat UNS bangga (the new professors make us proud), teruslah berkarya dan berinovasi (please continue to creating and innovating),” Prof. Jamal concluding. Humas UNS
