UNS – TNI Commander, Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, S.I.P officially launched UNS Aircraft Monument at the Lake of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Friday (20/09/2019). The aircraft monument is US aircraft-202 Bravo LM-2017 which is the primary training aircraft.
In the launching, UNS Rector, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho accompanied by the head of UNS Senate, UNS Vice-Rectors, and UNS Senators, as well as the Air Force Executive Officers, Diponegoro Regional Military Commander, Central Java Police Chief (Kapolda), students of Pradita Dirgantara Senior High School, also UNS academic community attended this event.
Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho received directly the aircraft supported by Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.
“I’m sure that this aircraft monument in UNS can be an icon to motivate students, as the young generation, to become an air force guard, as well as the education for people of Solo and beyond. Moreover, this monument will extend their love for Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and national aerospace,” Prof. Jamal expressed.
Besides the AS 202 BRAVO LM 2017, UNS also received support in the form of AE10 360 BIF Airplane Engine as a teaching property for students of Mechanical Engineering Department of Faculty of Engineering UNS.
The AS 202 BRAVO LM 2017 basic training aircraft is one of the historical aircraft. The aircraft was used by graduate cadets as well as short service cadets from non-commissioned officers of Indonesian National Police (Polri). It is before the cadets continue their basic training and choose according to their majors, wether combat aircraft, non-combat aircraft, or helicopter.
“At that time, Notional Police, Indonesian Navy, and Indonesian Army lacked pilots, so in early 1980, this aircraft was imported from Switzerland to Indonesia for basic training,” said Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto.
Furthermore, he alluded to the importance of the young generation preparing themselves early to maintain national stability and preparing excellent Human Resources (HR) to meet the demographic bonus in 2026 later. Therefore, Air Marshal of TNI Hadi Tjahjanto collaborated with UNS to achieve the missions.
“The laying down of the Aircraft Monument in UNS has a philosophy, UNS as a higher education institution prepares the youngsters who will take part in the life of the nation and the state, and the students who have completed their education can fly high to pursue their dream,” Air Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto concluded.
