UNS – As a form of concern, the Alumni and Graduate Association of Universitas Sebelas Maret (IKA UNS) delivers aid to the flood-affected communities, during the January 1, 2020 flood.
The aid that was delivered in the “UNS Alumni Flood Care” activity is provided to the flood-affected communities in Kabupaten Lebak, Banten, and Kabupaten Bekasi, Jawa Barat, on Saturday (11/01/2020).
The aid provided is in the form of staple foods, medicines, and other needs. This activity is in collaboration with UNS together with UNS SAR Team that will be deployed to Sukajaya, Kabupaten Bogor.
This distribution of disaster assistance is a routine agenda for the IKA UNS. In 2016 and 2018, IKA UNS also delivers assistance to several locations affected by floods in the Jabodetabek region. Similar assistance also provided during the earthquake disaster in Lombok and Palu.
“We hope that this assistance will help alleviate the suffering of those victims,” Budi Harto, the Chairman of IKA UNS mentioned.
Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, in his remarks for the release of the rescue group, mentioned that this activity is a form of concern from the alumni and UNS. “We deploy our best team. Hopefully, this will help ease the burden on the community affected by flooding,” Prof. Jamal said.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Rector of Student and Alumni Affairs UNS, who is the Head of UNS SAR Team, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, added that the UNS SAR Team is accompanied by one doctor, one midwife, and three nurses. “They have rescue experiences at the national and international level, such as rescue in Palu and Lombok,” Prof. Kuncoro said.
This team will conduct a mapping and assist the victim management for 10 days. While the Head of UNS Alumni Flood Care, Heri Sosiawan added that the victims who received assistance in Kabupaten Bekasi include Kecamatan Sukawangi and Tambun Utara. The aid in Sukawangi is concentrated in Desa Sukamekar. While the assistance in Tambun Utara is concentrated in Desa Sriamur.
“We are focused on the two most affected villages,” Heri said.
As for the assistance in Lebak, it is provided for the community if nine villages in Kecamatan Sajira plus one village in Kecamatan Cimarga, which located next to the villages in Sajira,” Heri added.
The assistance, in the form of basic needs, amounted to 1,800 packages, is collected from UNS alumni from across Indonesia. Moreover, the assistance also provides baby food, medicines, cooking utensils such as stove and gas, as well as toiletries and washing utensil. Humas UNS
