UNS Cerello Team Achievement in Ajisaka UGM 2020+ Festival

UNS — a remarkable accomplishment is carved by three students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, from the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP). The three students are Afradyta Oktaviani, Salma Prasantika Amada, and Titan Samudra, who compete in a team called ‘Cerello.’ The team succeeds in winning first place in Ajisaka UGM 2020+ Festival for the Risk Management category.

The Ajisaka UGM 2020+ Festival is a creative championship organized by the Communication Science Department, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). This year, the Ajisaka UGM 2020+ Festival brings up the topic “Biwara Bumandhala,” which means ‘a great news for the earth.’ Meanwhile, the championship categories are divided into Nakula, Kresna, Arjuna, Sadewa, and Prahasta. Alongside her team members, Salma, competing in the Prahasta category. Aside from the 16 competition categories, the Ajisaka 2020+ also invites professional juries.

Salma said that in the Risk Management category, there are three excellent juries, namely, Febriati Nadira from PT. Adaro Energy, Arif Mujahidin from Danone Indonesia, and Boy Kelana Soebroto as the Vice Chairman III Perhumas. Taking on a topic entitled ‘911 Disaster Response with Wisma Sejahtera,’ the Cerello team won over the other four finalists.

The ‘911 Disaster Response with Wisma Sejahtera’ is a strategy needed by the tourism accommodation companies in Kaliurang when it comes to volcanic eruptions, especially Mount Merapi. “We find that the tourism potential in Kaliurang is enormous. However, the community awareness related to the disaster risk in the region is low. Therefore, the program we prepared is to encourage stakeholders to establish the awareness collectively,” Salma explains when contacted by uns.ac.id, Sunday (18/4/2021). Salma adds that the effect of the Merapi eruption is close to her team’s daily life. Both Afradyta dan Salma were affected by the Merapi eruption in 2010.

The Ajisaka Festival consists of four sessions, namely the opening ceremony, discussion, closing, and awarding. The sessions are conducted virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “When announced as the winner, we are delighted and touched. Actually, we did not expect to win this competition. But Alhamdulillah, we are really thankful,” Salma reveals.

Using the ‘911 Disaster Response with Wisma Sejahtera’, the Cerello team hopes that the community will be more aware and sensitive to the natural disaster risk in their vicinity. This also applies to the companies in Indonesia as one of the stakeholders to collaboratively encourage the community to take a role in natural disaster mitigation.  Humas UNS
