UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta collaborated with the National Standardization Agency (BSN) in the framework of the Standardization of Education Enhancement and Development through Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Missions of Universities). The cooperation was marked by the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ratification of UNS Rector, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, accompanied by UNS Vice Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs, Prof. Sajidan, and the Chief of BSN, Prof. Bambang Prasetya in Jakarta on Wednesday (07/10/2019).
The MoU is the manifestation of UNS to improve the education and to develop the competence of the human resources in the area of Standardization and Conformity Assessment Bodies (LPK).
Through this cooperation, it is expected that UNS and BSN will be able to embed the research products and innovations of UNS to be Indonesian National Standard (SNI)-certified. So those will be acceptable in everywhere.
Meanwhile, Prof. Bambang encouraged UNS to enliven the development of SNI and to ground the research result using a standard. “Because with a standard, it will be global and will persuade others to prepare resources which can build the standard in Indonesia trough educational cooperation,” said Prof. Bambang.
With this MoU, there were many collaborations between UNS and BSN in terms of enhancing the understanding development and the application of standardization. Among them are, discussion and knowledge sharing about the Role of Standardization in Increasing the National Quality and Competitiveness through Education and Business Sectors, laboratory development to meet the standard, establishing and fostering the Product Certfication Body (LsPRO) in UNS, and so on.
