UNS – The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marking the collaboration between UNS, PT. King Manufacture & Corporate, and PT. Hasil Karya Indonesia (HKI), on Friday (19/6/2020). The collaboration serves as a collaboration between the industrial world with education institutions to improve vocational training and education.
The collaboration between the two parties is also on behalf of 8 partner corporations and 10 SMK partner of PT. King Manufacture & Corporate.
The MoU draft between UNS and PT. King Manufacture & Corporate is signed directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS, Dr. Mardiyana, the Director of PT. King Manufacture, Dipl. Ing Budi Sutrisno Pono, and the Principal of SMK Warga Surakarta Drs. Darmanta. Meanwhile, collaboration with PT. HKI is signed by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, and the Director of PT. HKI, Evan Pono Saputro, B.Sc.
The signatory of the MoU and collaboration is witnessed by the UNS Vice Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs, Prof. Sajidan, and the Director of Vocational Program Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) RI, Wikan Sakarinto, Ph. D., through Zoom Cloud Meeting.
In his remarks, Prof. Jamal welcomed both collaborations with PT. King Manufacture & Corporate and PT. HKI. For him, this collaboration can support the students’ capacity building programs, both through work practices, internships, and research. “I, on behalf of UNS leaders, thanks the business and industry world for their trust, which is in line with the 5 policy packages designed by the Minister of Education (red: Nadiem Makarim) stated in Permendikbud 3,4,5, and 6, in which one of them, the Permendikbud 3 of 2020 regulates the national education standard regarding ‘Merdeka Belajar’ and ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program, through internship and work practice in the partner school and companies,” said Prof. Jamal.
Additionally, Prof. Jamal states that this collaboration can open an opportunity for the students to be involved in research, study, independent project, and entrepreneurship activity. In front of the invited guests from the Rectory officials, Deanery, Chief of Bureau, UNS Postgraduate School Director, UNS Hospital Director, Head of Unit, as well as the principals from the 10 SMK as the partner of PT. King Manufacture & Corporate, Prof. Jamal hopes that the collaboration can be followed-up through a Cooperation Agreement with FKIP UNS and SV UNS.
“I hope that this Agreement can be the umbrella for many activities related to ‘Merdeka Belajar’ and ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program,” he added.
Vocational Program, according to Prof. Jamal, ideally use a 3:2:1 pattern, which refers to the length of the semester taken by students for a certain type of lecture, this means students spend 3 semesters for campus/class lecture, 2 semesters for an industrial internship, and 1 semester for Final Assignment/Diploma Thesis. At the end of his remark, Prof. Jamal hopes that the output from collaboration with PT. King Manufacture & Corporate and PT. HKI can be utilized as well as possible by FKIP and SV UNS primarily to advance vocational education in Indonesia.
“Specifically for the study programs related with Vocational and Mechanical Engineering in FKIP, as well as PTIK, it cannot become a ‘dead’ document, but an entry point to establish a truthful collaboration and be a reinforcement of ‘Merdeka Belajar’ and ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program,” conclude Prof. Jamal.
