UNS – The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta is included in 5 best universities in Indonesia in Webometrics version for the period January 2020. This ranking was the highest for the last 4 (four) years for UNS.
The Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, mentioned that Webometrics is an international ranking institution from Spain, which released the ranking of the best World Class University (WCU) around the world. This institution assesses a university’s development based on its website usage. Other considerations are the scientific activities supported by the implementation of Tri Dharma of higher education, which covers education, research, and community service, through the strengthening of infrastructure governance that is integrated into its Information Technology and Communication advancement. This can be seen from the healthy academic ambiance, good institution governance management, and the quality of the excellent student.
Prof. Jamal added that the Webometrics ranking was conducted biannually. “On the last January, we were ranked 5 among the best Indonesian universities, while internationally UNS is ranked 1,333. This position is our highest position for the last 4 years,” said Prof. Jamal to uns.ac.id, Friday (31/01/2020).
The Rector of UNS was grateful for the achievement because as for the second semester of 2019 UNS was ranked 7th in Indonesia for the Webometrics. This becomes a matter of pride for the civitas academics of UNS. This ranking shows that UNS can compete to be an advanced university by implementing technology and earn a reputable position at the national and international level.
“This is the result of all UNS civitas academics’ collaboration and hard work, moreover with the support from internal and external stakeholders, the campus community, Ikatan Keluarga Alumni (IKA – UNS Alumni Association), together with all alumni of UNS, we can work together to make our beloved campus become more advanced and established globally,” said Prof. Jamal.
In the current Webometrics ranking, the top 4 rankings were occupied by, in a consecutive manner, Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and ITS, and followed by UNS at 5th position. Humas UNS
