UNS — Another good news came from the Master Program in Science Education Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta after the program achieved an A-Level accreditation according to the Decree of National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) No. 5936/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/IX/2020 on Wednesday (23/9/2020). The assessors involved in this accreditation are Prof. Dr. Ramlan Silaban, M.S. from Universitas Negeri Medan and Prof. Dr. Sri Puji Astuti Wahyuningsih, M.Si. from Universitas Airlangga Surabaya who conducted online field assessment.
The field assessment was conducted two days from Friday to Saturday (18 – 19/9/2020). The Head of Master Program in Science Education UNS, Dr. Sarwanto, S.Pd., M.Si. stated that in the field assessment, both assessors were impressed with the commitment of the faculty members of the Master Program in Science Education. Especially the professors who have excellent integrity in supporting the management of the Master Program in Science Education. Likewise, with the alumni, through their association, Hikal Pisa, the alumni provide a great contribution to the Master Program in Science Education. In an interview with the two assessors, the students of Master Program in Science Education stated that they are proud to learn in UNS, especially in term of international publication supervision that will become a portfolio for a future career.
Dr. Sarwanto added that this accreditation result is a turning point to improve the quality of the Master Program in Science Education to be a program with international quality as mentioned in the program’s vision and mission. “My greatest appreciation for students who have been patient and wait for 1.5 years for the accreditation result so that we can get the best result,” Dr. Sarwanto stated on Saturday (3/10/2020).
Great support from Quality Assurance Unit of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS and the executive board of FKIP UNS on Science Education program also has a role in the success of the accreditation. Students who have completed their thesis defend are applying for graduation after the accreditation result was announced. The Dean of FKIP UNS, Dr. Mardiyana, M. Si, conveyed his appreciation for the Master Program in Science Education for its achievement. Dr. Mardiyana also stated that a gratitude banquet was held by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro with UPM Team FKIP UNS on Friday (25/9/2020) with other program accreditation results, the Undergraduate Program in Javanese Language Education with A-Level Accreditation and first accreditation of Master Program in Biology Education with B level as the result.
