UNS — In the digital era, the online platform is informative to share information. Responding to this, Imam Mahmud, postgraduate students from Sociology Program Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta initiated an informative online platform to share education and competition information named Arena Lomba.
Arena Lomba is developed since 2019 and available in various social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, LINE, Twitter and even a website. The app is initiated by Imam Mahmud and his four friends, Aji Pangestu from Chemistry Program Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) who served as video design, and Sofia Oka Rodiana from Chemistry Education Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Maflahah from Postgraduate Program in Sociology FISIP, and Nani Muftihah from Indonesian Language and Literature Education FKIP served as a video creator.
Imam stated that Arena Lomba as a portal of information of competition is created to assists students to improve their achievements. To this time, Arena Lomba has around 20,000 followers in their Instagram account @arenalomba, while on YouTube, it has 16,000 subscribers. In their activities, Arena Lomba takes a role as a media partner. Several platforms, their Instagram account has the largest followers because according to Imam, currently, Instagram has a good development.
For the time, Arena Lomba received competition posters from various universities and schools free of charge. To support their financial needs, Arena Lomba monetized their YouTube channel and received ads revenue. Imam hopes that Arena Lomba will encourage people to join the competition and to be achieved.
