UNS — The Student Activity Unit (UKM) Scout for the Front Cluster in Surakarta 04.555 & 04.550, in collaboration with the Center for Scout Education and Training (Pusdiklatcab) Surakarta, held the 2020 Scouting Camp and Digital Literacy Training for Rover (Penegak) and Venturer (Pandega) Scouts (Pustaka) for three weeks. The event took place from November 21st to December 5th, 2020, has a theme “Encouraging Digital Literacy in Rover and Venturer Scouts” and was attended by more than 50 Guest Members in 2020. The event was presented in Public Relation Course and Virtual Campfire through Zoom Cloud Meeting.
The Chair of Pustaka 2020, Muhammad Hasbi, states that the course was conducted synchronously and asynchronously, with 6 competent speakers. This activity is expected to foster and develop participants’ digital literacy skills in newsroom media and public relations. “The event was opened by UNS Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo on Saturday, November 21st, 2020. The opening was followed by Course Orientation by the Deputy Chair of Pusdiklatcab Surakarta, Coach S.B. Darwiyanti,” Hasbi explains in his release to uns.ac.id, Wednesday (23/12/2020).
On Sunday (22/11/2020), the event invites Scoutmasters from UNS Scout, Coach Eko Rosyid, and Coach Deddy Whinata. As the first speaker, Coach Eko delivers material on the Fundamental of Scout. On this occasion, Coach Eko explains the Requirements in General and Specific Scout Proficiency, Basic Principle, and Scout Methods. Meanwhile the second speaker, Coach Deddy Whinata delivers material on Mass Media and Culture. Aside from being one of the Scoutmasters in UNS, Coach Deddy also serves as the Deputy of Public Relations in UNS.
The following week, Saturday (28/11/2020), there are four speakers invited to the program, namely Ichsan Noor R, Reporter of Timlo, who opened the session with Effective Written and Spoken Communication. The second speaker for the session is M. Shidiq, the founder of PembicaraIndonesia.com, who delivers material on Virtual Communication. The third speaker, W. Chumaeson, (a lecturer from Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Science – FISIP), delivers material on Public Relation Management. The day session was concluded with material on PR Strategy and Public Relation, delivered by Firdastin R. Y (an academic member of FISIP UNS).
For the following week (November 29th, 2020), the event was continued with PR Practice delivered by Deva. “In this Practice, the participants were requested to practicing all the material provided during the Pustaka 2020. After creating their written press release, participants were asked to present their press release orally. The closing ceremony was conducted on Saturday (5/12/2020),” Hasbi explains. Humas UNS
