UNS — A team of Student Creativity Program for Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta led by Nikmah Kasanah, a student from Physics Program Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) designed Nano Silver Spray as an antibacterial and antifungal agent for the helmet. This idea is developed from the high level of external activities performed when a person is driving might cause new problem driving equipment such as a helmet.
Nikmah Kasanah stated that the helmet used over and over would cause a problem. Bacteria and fungi can grow in this equipment because the head tends to be damp from sweat or wet hairs. This condition can cause an unpleasant odor in the helmet and increase the potential of problems on the scalp. In an effort to solve this problem, the PKM-K team developed an antibacterial and antifungal spray that can kill fungi and bacteria that grow in the helmet, “and to eliminate unpleasant odor in the helmet,” Nikmah Kasanah explained, Wednesday (25/11/2020).
Nanosilver is selected as antibacterial and antifungal agents because it has been proved as an effective agent and has minimum side effects. The product was named Spray Silvero with the tagline of easy, low price, and efficient. This spray is sprayed to the helmet three times, and the antibacterial and antifungal agent will be active for around 24 hours. Spray Silvero offers various aroma variants, including lavender, lily, gardenia, and rose, which is the most popular perfume fragrants in Indonesia. This product also provides a natural variant without essential oil for those who do not like perfumed spray. Spray Silvero is also offered in economical packaging and refill. The economical packaging has two variants, each in a 50 ml bottle; the first variant is Spary Silvero three times spray and one-time spray. These two variants have different concentrations of nanosilver. The refill pack is provided in 1 L bottle so that consumer can refill their spray bottle to reduce the number of wastes and price.
“The innovation offered by PKM-K team UNS is expected to increase motorcycle rider awareness on their helmet condition and to facilitate motorcycle riders in helmet care,” Nikmah Kasanah concluded. Humas UNS
