UNS — The students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta conveyed their gratitude after they were granted tuition cut for the odd semester of 2020/2021. The information was disseminated through Rector UNS Decree Number 18 concerning Tuition Cut for Universitas Sebelas Maret Student during Covid-19 Pandemic. uns.ac.id got an opportunity to have a chat with students who were granted with the tuition cut through online chat on Sunday (9/8/2020). Students provide diverse answers concerning the questions.
Ramandha Firmansyah a student of Diploma Taxation Program Vocational School (SV) UNS received 50% tuition cut. Commenting on this, Ramandha stated that he is grateful because the financial assistance from UNS has eased his parent’s burden after their income was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Another student, Merlita Fitriani from Craft Arts (Textile Design) Program Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) UNS, admitted that the tuition cut application is easier compared to previous years. Merlita is granted regular tuition cut and only need to pay 1,000,000 rupiahs as tuition. To uns.ac.id, she stated that her parents were highly helped by the cut granted by UNS.
In addition to the tuition cut, UNS also paid attention to last year student study who are affected by Covid-19 pandemic. For example, Bagas Catur Jiwantara, last year student from Communication Science Program Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS is one of the students who received tuition cut for final year students. Bagas who only need to finish his undergraduate thesis received full-tuition cut which means he does not need to pay tuition fee for the odd semester of 2020/ 2021. He conveyed his gratitude to the Communication Science Program FISIP UNS that has helped him in completing and managing his application. Aside from Bagas, another last year student who got full tuition cut is Try Kurniawati Assalam from English Language and Literature Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) UNS. Try stated that the pandemic has disturbed the process of her undergraduate thesis completion, which is why she applied for tuition cut. Humas UNS
