UNS — UNS Library in collaboration with UNS International Office held Religious Literacy titled “Libyan Day” at the lobby of UNS Library on May 16-17, 2019. This event aimed to group discussion and sharing experience of the foreign Muslims who study in UNS. This event was coordinated by UNS International Office which has an office in the 4th floor of the UNS Library. This event was expected to unify all generations of foreign and Indonesian Muslims in one frame story of the religious literacy.
This event was carried out so generation of Muslims has the global insight about religious literacy on Ramadan. It was a construction to strengthen the human resources in religion to unite the vision and mission of character building education. This group discussion was attended by the foreign students who are the members of Foreign Students Community. It brought motivation and inspiration to tolerant among generations in Indonesia.
It is a commitment to maintain the unity in Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) as a manifestation of the development of cultural literacy and citizenship for all young people in Indonesia. Tolerance in the frame of pluralism and diversity in Indonesia can be instilled through respect, caring, and compassion through religious literacy.
The group discussion was to commemorate the National Book Day on May 17, 2019. “Togetherness and concern for intergeneration in religious literacy must indeed be cared for and maintained to build the character of tolerant, caring, and compassionate young people among themselves,” explained Muhammad Rohmadi, Head of Technical Implementing Unit of UNS Library.
The UNS students are expected to get many benefits from this religious literacy collaboration. Moreover, M. Taufik Al Makmun, Head of Technical Implementing Unit of UNS International Office, defined that “This religious literacy event will be a part of the promotion and branding of UNS to the international in order to attract foreign students to study in UNS.”
Lively and full of tolerance that is united in the religious literacy frame was apparently reflected in the end of the event by having iftar together at the Lobby of UNS Library. Hopefully this event motivates library patrons to keep literate through RATULISA (Committed in Writing and Reading) to unveil the window of the world for the betterment and glory of NKRI.
