UNS KKN Team Turns Catfish into a Ready-to-Eat Nugget

UNS – Entrepreneurial spirits need to be honed, in order for someone to be independent and free from financial problems. Responding to this the Students’ Community Service (KKN) Team from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a workshop and training in Bolopleret Nugget Lele (Catfish Nugget Bolopleret-Bolo Nale) in Bolopleret Village Hall, Juwiring Sub-District, Klaten, on Monday (10/2/2020).

At the beginning of the workshop, the Community Health Centers (Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat-Puskesmas) of the Juwiring Sub-District, delivers material on Tuberculosis (TBC). The workshop and training on Bolo Nale were organized to attract the community interest especially the housewives in running this culinary business namely the catfish nugget. This event is attended by the members of Family Welfare Development (Pembinaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga-PKK) of Bolopleret Village.
One of the KKN in Bolopleret team members, Retta Fauziah Alfiana, said that Bolo Nale is a homemade nugget. This nugget is made from catfish (lele), which is different from the ordinary nugget that uses chicken or beef as their main ingredients. However, the taste is not different from regular nuggets. The workshop went smoothly. The housewives showed their enthusiasm for practicing how to make the nugget. In fact, after finished the training, the housewives were excited to try the nugget they made. Afterward, the KKN team socialize the sales strategy for the product.
A workshop like the one organized by this KKN Team is needed to establish the entrepreneurship spirit of the local society. It is expected that the community can establish their business and practicing it themselves to serve their family. This is also useful to direct the economic growth of the community in a better direction because they have their own businesses.
“We hope that this event can attract the housewives to establish an MSME. If they do not interested to establish a business, they can be practicing to making catfish nuggets at home to serve to the family,” said Retta. Humas UNS/Zalfaa
