UNS – Creative force becomes an inherent thing for students studying art. The tradition to hold an art event by the Diploma Program in Visual Communication Design (DKV), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, is continuously carried out. Temu Cipta is chosen as the title for the event in 2020. This event is conducted for 2 days Friday and Saturday on 28-29 February 2020.
The topic chosen for this year’s event is “Don’t Hesitate” which means opening the current students’ minds to not hesitate in creating art or developing their creative ideas. The event that was held in Taman Budaya Jawa Tengah (TBJT) Surakarta has several agendas such as an open gallery, sharing, workshop, and live music. An exhibition of artwork is presented by showing off the artwork of DKV UNS students, especially from the class of 2019. Several arts categories displayed among others are branding, campaign, info, illustration, poster, and many others.
“Under the branding category, we try to lift-up traditional food, for instance by creating a logo for them, packaging, and such. One of the examples is Meta Mete,” said Ahmad Khoirun Najib as the committee.
The next agenda is sharing sessions with two speakers from the alumni of the Faculty of Fine Art and Design (FSRD) UNS namely Eden D. Pratama who discuss Visual Communication Design, and Ichsan Septianto who speak about a topic in ‘Ilustrasi-in Aja (Just Illustrate it)’. Each speaker has their own quota to facilitate the participants who follow the session. Afterward, there was a Workshop on Lettering “acanthus ornament.” delivered by Alib Isa, a professional lettering artist. Not only attended by the students of UNS, but this event was also attended by the students from Institut Seni Indonesia (Indonesia Art Institute-ISI) Surakarta, Universitas Negeri Semarang, Modern School of Design (MDS) Yogyakarta, and many others.
The agenda that needs contribution from the whole students in DKV UNS is expected to further strengthen relations among the students. Students can strengthen their teamwork skills and understand each other. The previous generation of DKV UNS also provides provide suggestions for this activity, thus it can run well. In the future, a similar agenda will be held by involving 2 different classes.
“Hopefully it will be better and there will be similar agenda at the end of 2020, please keep looking forward to it,” said the Chief Committee, Muhammad Ghofur to uns.ac.id. Humas/Ratri
