UNS – The peak of the 44th Anniversary of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta went uniquely. Not only because of UNS is awarding the title Paramsaya Anugraha Dharma Krida Upa Baksana to the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr. KH. Ma’ruf Amin, but also because on the Anniversary day all the UNS academicians wear traditional dress from the various region in Indonesia.
Based on uns.ac.id observation in Auditorium G. P. H Haryo Mataram UNS, since 12.00 WIB the leaders of UNS, senate members, and staff of UNS Rectory are entering the dr. Prakosa Rectory Building by wearing a traditional dress that was prepared by each staff from their home.
“Today I wear a traditional dress from Nias and I specially choose a yellow color, which is cheerful like today’s cheerfulness in 44th UNS Anniversary. Congratulation to UNS! Hopefully, UNS can move forward and become a powerful university,” said Lidyasari, one of the staff in Rectory building.
With a happy face, Lidya is absorbed in taking selfies with her fellow staff from the UNS Rectory. Beside Lidya, another staff from the Rectory office, Rofi, also showing off the traditional dress they wear. Rofi mentioned that the batik dress they wear is a special one.
“This motif is special. I have prepared this batik since a long time ago. This batik is from Solo and Yogyakarta, which typically have a light brown color and have a batik motif with flower, dots, curves, and line,” said Rofi.
In the Open Senate Meeting of the 44th UNS Anniversary, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho has to issue an appeal letter to all UNS academicians to wear Nusantara traditional outfit.
Later on, the academician who wears the traditional outfit will be assessed by each Faculty. Those who earn the highest score will be contested during the ‘Pentas Pewayangan’ on Saturday night (21/3/2020), and of course for the most unique outfit will receive a special prize.
The use of traditional outfits on the 44th UNS Anniversary is aimed to strengthen nationalism spirit and commitment of UNS that declares as ‘Benteng Pancasila’ University. Humas UNS/ Yefta
