UNS – The Chairman of the Council of Rector of Indonesian State University (CRISU), currently also serves as the Rector of the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, requesting the implementation of the Computer-Based Writing Examination (UTBK) this year to prioritize the 5 principles of New Students admission. The five principles are stipulated in Permendikbud RI No. 6 of 2020, which includes fair, accountable, flexible, efficient, and transparent.
This was mentioned by Prof. Jamal during an Online Press Conference on ‘Implementation of UTBK in New Normal Condition’ through a Zoom Cloud Meeting, Wednesday (24/6/2020) morning. On the occasion, Prof. Jamal mentioned that the implementation of the UTBK this year is designed with various considerations, one of them is to avoid participants’ movement from one region to another.
“The UTBK during the ‘New Normal’, should be able to implement several matters that we consider together. The first is to ensure the health and safety of the participants, committees, and supervisors, including their escort,” explains Prof. Jamal.
The second consideration for the LTMPT as the organizing committee of the UTBK is to avoid the movement of the participants from a city/municipality/island. This ensures compliance with physical distancing as recommended by the government.
Further, Prof. Jamal states that UTBK must be implemented immediately, thus the third channel for new student admission is not delayed. He also wishes for participation from all stakeholders to monitor the implementation of the UTBK during the ‘New Normal’ era, to avoid fraud.
“We wished for your prayer for the implementation and success of the UTBK during this ‘New Normal’ condition,” Prof. Jamal adds.
This year UTBK will be followed by 706,901 participants. From the total amount, 145,802 participants are ‘KIP Kuliah’ recipients. Prof. Mohammad Nasih as the Head of LTMPT, states that the total capacity prepared in all UTBK centers is for 1,435,130 participants.
The UTBK is planned to be realized in three stages, the 1st stage on 5-14 July, 2nd stage on 20-29 July, and 3rd stage or backup on 29 July – 2 August, which only consist of Scholastic Potential Test (TPS) for 105 minutes. Humas UNS/Yefta/Dwi
