UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta provided Rp 434,500,000 funds as a stimulant for 37 UNS young entrepreneur teams. This is a set of agenda in Startup Contest and UNS Student Business Competition started in February 2020. After the stages of the selection process, UNS assessed 44 entrepreneur teams from Monday (22/6/2020) to Thursday (26/6/2020).
This competition was held to grow the entrepreneurship spirits in UNS students and to prepare them in joining the Indonesia Student Business Management Event (Kegiatan Bisnis Manajemen Mahasiswa Indonesia – KBMI) at the national level that will be held on July 2020. The Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo conveyed that UNS will encourage student entrepreneurship program.
“We encourage the student to have a real entrepreneurship activity, thus, this startup contest is just a trigger. This event is similar to the Student Entrepreneurship Program (Program Wirausaha Mahasiswa – PMW) under the supervision of LPPM. However, we plan to develop this program further. This program is open for students who have a real and running business, we will conduct an evaluation later to ensure the sustainability of the program,” he explained on Monday (13/7/2020).
The assessment was performed by five reviewers from external practitioners and four internal reviewers. The external reviewers are Al Hakim Al Hadhy, M.Si., Jeffry Leksmana W., Fahrein All Sandra K. P. Utama, S.E., and Edy Santoso, S.Sn., while the internal reviewers are Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi, Susantiningrum, M.AB., Catur Sugiarto, Ph.D., Muhammad Yusuf Indra Purnama, M.Rech., and Ahmad Adib, Ph.D.
A student who passed the assessment, Muhammad Anglas Bayu Rendra from Health and Recreation Physical Education Study Program, Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS stated that he is grateful for the result. The sixth-semester student and three of his teammates, Tatiana Prihandayani, Wenda Kusuma Safa Kuncoro, and Zahrah Safira Nugroho developed guppy fish farming business using a national and international standard.
“We hope that this business will provide positive impacts for all people, especially students who are required to have independence. With the support from UNS we hope that we will continue to develop this business and be able to compete in the ornamental fish market at the national and international level,” he added.
Anglas Bayu and team will upgrade their equipment and fish farming area. They will also purchase an international guppy fish brooder that currently is unavailable in Indonesia. Humas UNS
