UNS – Biology Program Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta encourages its students to join the Student Creativity Program (Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa – PKM). This is mentioned in a webinar held by the Biology Student Association (Himpunan Mahasiswa Biologi – Himabio) FMIPA UNS, Saturday (11/7/2020). The event that invited faculty members and students who succeeded in PKM as speakers were conducted through Zoom Meeting platform.
Himabio invited three speakers, Hasbiyan Rosyadi, M.Sc., faculty member of Biology Program FMIPA UNS, Yochidamai Akhsanitaqwim, 2nd place winner of UNS 2020 Mawapres, and Jeesica Hermayanti Pratama, recipient of the 2019 Kemenristekdikti PKM grant.
Hasbiyan Rosyadi, M.Sc. delivered material on the motivation and how to generate an idea in writing PKM. Hasbiyan conveyed that usually a student’s motivation in making PKM is to follow their friends, prize, and even hobby. In making PKM, students are demanded to be creative to create an innovative product or idea. An idea can be generated through friendship and seeing a wide range of point of views in solving a problem, reading, discussion, picnic or meditation, and learning other’s works. Closing his material, Hasbiyan shared tips for participants to start writing PKM.
The next speaker, Jeesica Hermayanti Pratama discussed the writing technique in PKM which consists of several stages to get to the National Student Science Week (Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional – Pimnas), starting from proposal preparation to monitoring. Proposal preparation starts with brainstorming and selecting a team, supervisor, and partners for the community service program. Students also need to build their intention, willingness, spirit, and teamwork. After passing the selection process, students will work with the logbook, progress report, and final report.
The last session belongs to Yochidamai Aksanitaqwim who shared experience in the preparation of PKM proposal. “The obstacles faced are usually concerning strategy, distribution of Job Description to team members, and description of the literature review. If all team members are busy, we have to formulate agreed schedule, in short, you have to sacrifice (time).”
Yochidamai also shared tips for students in preparing PKM in terms of generating ideas and selecting team members. The idea should be in line with the background of the study, can be developed from the trends. Students will need to communicate this idea to their supervisor and select team members that will complete each other. Humas UNS
