UNS Grants Tuition Cut for 9,752 Students

UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta grants tuition cut for 9,752 students in the odd semester 2020/2021. The tuition cut reached a total of 37 billion rupiahs. The cut can be categorized into three types, full-tuition cut, regular tuition cut, and Covid-19 impact tuition cut. In the online press release on Friday (7/8/2020), the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho stated that the cut is provided to all faculties and Vocational School (SV).

“In total, 9,752 students received a cut that can be categorized into three groups. Free tuition was granted to 6,158 students, regular tuition cut was granted to 1,671 students, and Covid-19 impact cut was granted to 1,923 students from all faculties and Vocational School. In total, UNS provided 37.3 billion rupiahs tuition cut,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The verification process for the cut was performed strictly by the university. Students submitted documents that consist of application letter, study plan card, integrity pact, and other supporting documents uploaded to siakad.ac.id. After students uploaded all the documents, the documents were verified by the faculties and university.

Currently, UNS extends the application timeframe for tuition cut until 12 August for students who have not to submit their application. This is mentioned in the Announcement Number 1027/UN27/TU/2020 issued on Thursday (6/8/2020). In addition to tuition cut from the university, UNS is granted slots for Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah (Smart Indonesia Program for College) as a form of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) concerns on students affected by Covid-19. The program provides 2.4 million rupiahs assistance for student tuition each semester. Prof. Jamal also explained that UNS has 1,884 KIP quotas for new students who will study in UNS in 2020. UNS also provided financial assistance for 565 students in the third semester, 884 students in 5th semester, and 1,338 students in 7th-semester students.
