UNS — The Chief of Center for Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI) Javanologi Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Sahid Teguh Widodo, is concerned about changes in the order of people’s lives due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is because people are suspicious of each other and are worried about contracting Sars-Cov-2, thus they prioritize the safety of each other’s lives.
During the Webinar hosted by the Regional Language and Literature Student Association in Indonesia (Imbasadi) in “The Role of Regional Literature in Preparing the Golden Generation of Indonesia in 2045”, Saturday (8/8/2020) morning, through Zoom Meeting. Prof. Sahid states that the never-ending Covid-19 pandemic Covid-19 pandemic has overturned logic, views, assumptions, and people around the world.
“During this crisis, all is ravaged. What was planned within a global scenario is destructed, 700 thousand people died. We are now suspicious and think for our own safety, churches and mosques are empty,” said Prof. Sahid.
The paradigmatic crisis that is increasingly inevitable, as said by Prof. Sahid, is the result of people’s anxiety and fear, which resulted in the globalization of the world becoming fragile and stammering. This because currently, the world is facing many pressures that continue to whack and destroys all joints of human life.
In front of the webinar participants, Prof. Sajid states that the Covid-19 pandemic has created a new trauma. This is because the Sars-Cov-2 not only attacks the condition of human health but also puts pressure on the human spirit.
“People’s point of view on their surrounding environment and social interaction, to the very most basic aspect, has changed completely with respect to their body and spirit, as well as to the micro and macro cosmos,” Prof. Sahid explains.
The government policy in implementing social distancing and physical distancing is considered by Prof. Sahid, as clear evidence on the value changes in politeness and social ethics that were previously upheld. In his presentation, Prof. Sajid also mentions the existence of culture amid the globalization. Prof. Sahid highlights the massive globalization, which makes technology to gradually seize the position of humans as producers of culture, while the domination of technology causes robots to control human life.
“Digital information technology gains its power and plunging us into a passive object, a situation without the freedom, which should be owned naturally and absolutely,” explains Prof. Sahid. He further expresses his concern because nowadays people are living under the supervision and pressure of its own products, namely technology. In this matter, Prof. Sahid mentioned that human is busy following symbolic doctrine prepared by the global creator.
“Further, humans become fascinated by the game of the universe of symbols that change every decade of the era and further reduce the freedom to choose outside of the space of freedom itself,” he concluded. Humas UNS
