UNS — The UNS Global Ambassador, abbreviated as UNS GLAD, organized a sharing session with the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Buddies, on Wednesday (23/9/2020). The Head of UNS International Office, Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D., states that this was part of the International Sharing Day #27. Different from the previous session, this Sharing Day does not involve international students but student buddies from the UPM local students, as a form of comparative study between student buddies at the international level.
“UNS GLAD is a task force under the Technical Implementation Unit of International Service UNS, which is a development of International Office buddy, established since 2015. GLAD does no only focus on assisting international students, their task is now expanded. Their new role is to promote a global mindset especially for fellow students,” Dr. Irwan explains. Indeed, Dr. Irwan continues, this will significantly help the university improve its students’ competency to interact at the international network and face global competition.
The Online Sharing Session was attended by 15 participants consisting of 7 (seven) representatives from UPM Buddies, and 8 (eight) representatives from UNS GLAD. The Sharing Session discusses the duty of a student buddy in each university and the challenges in implementing internationalization activities for students. Afterward, the participants are brainstorming to find a solution for each challenge and problem commonly faced by their buddies. What was no less interesting from the sharing session is the stories on unforgettable moments while providing assistance to international students.
“This discussion brought useful information that can be an improvement material for each party in handling various matters relating to international students, as well as the internationalization agenda campaign for students in the future,” he concluded. Humas UNS
