UNS — The Volunteer Corps (Korps Sukarela – KSR) Indonesian Red Cross (Palang Merah Indonesia – PMI) unit Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta invited the community to fight against Narkotika, Psikotropika, and obat-obatan terlarang (Narkoba) (Narcotics, Psychotropics, and illegal drugs). This invitation was delivered in a National Webinar on “Uniting the Nation to Achieve Indonesia Healthy and Free from Drugs”. This event was held on Saturday (26/9/2020) through Zoom Cloud Meeting and YouTube Livestream in KSR PMI unit UNS YouTube channel. In partnership with National Narcotics Board of Indonesia (Badan Narkotika Nasional – BNN) Surakarta, the event aims to share the importance of healthy lifestyle and to grow the spirit of staying productive without narcotics to the public. Four hundred and six people attended the event.
The Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, attended the event and delivered an opening remark. He mentioned that the event serves as an invitation for the community to work together to keep drugs away from people life. “Because the danger of Napza (red: narcotics, psychotropic, and other addictive substances) or Narcotics is threatening the future of our nation,” Prof. Kuncoro added.
Three speakers were invited to the event, AKBP Ridho Wahyudi, S.H., who shared the Issues surrounding Narcotics in Indonesia, Dr. Ratih Puspita dr., M.Sc delivered material on the Health Impact and Preventive Strategy for Drug Abuse, and the last speaker, Danar And The Blangkon who shared the Productivity and Creativity without Narcotics. As the front line, the young generation should be involved in the process to solve Narcotics related issues. Currently, Indonesia is facing a drug emergency. One of the factors that cause narcotics distribution in Indonesia is the high market potential and selling prices. According to AKBP Ridho Wahyudi, S.H., all elements of the community need to participate in eradicating the distribution of narcotics in Indonesia.
Further, dr. Ratih shared the steps to prevent drugs abuse. The key point is when educating other people about drugs abuse, a person needs to provide a real example of what will happen when someone abusing drugs. This includes the legal penalty, the physical changes, and many other changes so that people can understand the effect of abusing drugs. Danar And The Blangkon who consists of Agus Widanarko, S.E., M.H., M.Si., Hilarius Mukti Catur and Abraham Denny who opened their material with a song “Benci Untuk Mencinta” (hate to love) from Naif, stated that the song represents their hatred because in the past they loved marijuana. Additionally, different religion of Danar And The Blangkon members shows that in solving drugs abuse issues, the community needs to unite and set aside the religious background. The Chief of Committee, Asih Dwi Mawartini wished that the webinar participants can disseminate the knowledge and act as the agent of change for Healthy Indonesia without Narcotics. Humas UNS
