UNS — Fortunate news came from the Psychology Program Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The program achieved excellent accreditation or A-Level from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) with a total score of 362 on 9 September. The accreditation will be effective for 5 years from 9 September 2020 to 9 September 2025.
The Head of Psychology Program FK UNS, Dr. Aditya Nanda Priyatama admitted that he was very delighted and proud of this achievement. “Alhamdulillah, this is our dream and is one of Psychology UNS mission. Since the accreditation in 2009 we got a total score of 303, then in 2014 we got a total accreditation score of 353 which in accumulation we were 8 points behind the A-level accreditation. We are grateful that the academic process in the last 5 years has been implemented well,” he stated in an interview with uns.ac.id on Monday (5/10/2020).
This accreditation cannot be separated from the role of all academic members of the Psychology Program FK UNS, the faculty members, students, and academic staff. Aditya added that the recent accreditation will bring significant impact for the program, students, and alumni, for example, it can be used to apply for a job that requires a program with A-Level accreditation. Various preparations were conducted to welcome the visitation conducted on 3-4 September 2020 including preparing facilities and infrastructures. The visitation was conducted online, which posed a new challenge for the program because the previous visitation was conducted offline. The online visitation demanded the program to prepare for good Information Technology (IT) support and softcopy form of all documents.
Before the visitation from BAN-PT, the Psychology Program FK UNS also conducted an internal simulation led by Prof. Dr. Cari from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) UNS and Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi, a faculty member of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS. The online visitation from BAN-PT was led by two assessors, Prof. Dr. Seger Handoyo from the Faculty of Psychology Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Surabaya and Rahmat Hidayat, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Psychology Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta.
Aditya hopes that Psychology Program will be able to be independent and establish the Faculty of Psychology UNS in the future. “In the short-term, one year ahead, we will open a Master Program in Applied Psychology. We will also establish a communication with the centers of psychology both at the national and international level, for research collaboration, student and staff exchange, and international student internship program. With the A-Level accreditation, we hope that it will provide further opportunities for us to thrive further,” he concluded. Humas UNS
