UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta established a partnership with the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Sulawesi Tengah. This partnership was marked with the signing of mutual agreement between UNS and Pemprov Sulawesi Tengah by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, and Vice Governor of Sulawesi Tengah, Dr. Longki Djanggola in Meeting Room 2 dr. Prakosa Building UNS, Tuesday (6/10/2020).
In his remark, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho stated that UNS cannot reach the current condition without the partnership with other parties. “I conveyed my gratitude to Pemprov Sulawesi Tengah, represented by the Vice Governor, who today visited UNS to build a collaboration. The collaboration between UNS and Pemprov Sulawesi Tengah will include the implementation of education, research, community service, and Human Resource Development in Sulawesi Tengah Province,” Prof. Jamal explained.
Prof. Jamal hopes that the signing of the mutual agreement will not stop as a ceremonial event. After the signing, Prof. Jamal expects real activities between UNS and Pemprov Sulawesi Tengah. “It can be in form of study for the staff of Pemprov Sulawesi Tengah in UNS. Or research and community service activities with Pemprov Sulawesi Tengah. And hopefully, in the future UNS will have students from all provinces in Indonesia,” he added.
On the same occasion, the Vice Governor of Sulawesi Tengah, Dr. Longki Djanggola thanked UNS for its hospitality. “The proof of our seriousness is by directly come to UNS even in the Covid-19 pandemic and of course by implementing health protocol,” Dr. Longki conveyed.
Dr. Longki stated that Sulawesi Tengah has great natural resources, for example, the largest nickel mine in Indonesia. The province also has other potentials that can be developed including agriculture, plantation, and tourism. “We provide opportunities for UNS academia, students, and alumni, to conduct research or work in Sulawesi Tengah. Therefore, it is not limited to education, but we also hope for partnership in other sectors,” Dr. Longki concluded. Humas UNS
