UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, led the socialization of the Governmental Decree (PP) Number 56 of 2020 concerning UNS as University with Legal Entity (Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Berbadan Hukum – PTN BH), online through Zoom Cloud Meeting, Monday (12/10/2020) afternoon.
On this occasion, Prof. Jamal accompanied by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs UNS Prof. Ahmad Yunus, Vice-Rector for Finance and Management Affairs UNS Dr. Bandi, Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni Affairs UNS Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo, Vice-Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs UNS Prof. Sajidan, and Senior Advisor to Rector for Finance and Management Affairs UNS, Dr. Muhtar.
Prof. Jamal stated that the designation of UNS as the 12th PTN BH in Indonesia is a great achievement because compared to other older public universities, UNS can be considered as young when designated as PTN BH. “Thank you for all wishes and supports from UNS academic members so that on 6th October, the president of the Republic of Indonesia has signed PP Number 56 of 2020 concerning UNS PTN BH,” Prof. Jamal Wiwoho conveyed.
The PTN BH status, according to Prof. Jamal is a special moment because the government provides discretion and flexibility for UNS for opening new programs and managing finance and assets. In front of the university executive board, chief of bureau, chief of units, and academic staffs of UNS, Prof. Jamal shared the important agenda scheduled after UNS designation as PTN BH. The agenda includes senate deliberation, establish academic senate and board of professors, the inauguration of the academic senate by the rector, formulation of academic senate arrangement, and appointing Board of Trustee (Majelis Wali Amanat – MWA).
“This October we need to move fast. The short-term agenda in this transition period is the discussion process and establishing academic senate and board of professors according to PP Number 56 of 2020. We hope that in the fourth week of October there will be the inauguration of the academic senate by the rector and in November academic senate has prepared the regulation on MWA. Followed by the appointment of the head, secretary, and members of MWA,” Prof. Jamal explained.
On the formation of MWA, Prof. Jamal explained that MWA will consist of Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) RI, Rector ex-officio, the chief of academic senate ex-officio, 7 members of the academic senate, 4 representatives of community members, 1 representative of alumnus, 1 representative of academic staff, and 1 student representative. In total, MWA will have 17 members. During the transition process which Prof. Jamal referred to as “short-term agenda of the transition period”, UNS will restructure the organization, one of which is the change in the position and duties of Vice-Rectors.
In the new structure, the Vice-Rector position will consist of Vice-Rector for Academic, Student, and Alumni Affairs, Vice-Rector for Human Resources, Finance, and Logistics, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation, and Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information. By December of this year, Prof. Jamal stated that there are four important agenda including legislation, planning, organization, and finance. In each field, there will be policy formulation, new organizational governance, and assets valuation.
“This December we have to complete a few agenda. In finance, we need to prepare financial management guidelines, calculating the initial balance of assets, determine the standard fees and rates, and regulation on procurement of goods and services,” he concluded. Humas UNS
