UNS — The Agribusiness Program Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Agribusiness Program of Universitas Trunojoyo Madura and Massey University New Zealand held an International Joint Lecture on the theme of Development of Agribusiness Institution and Cooperation online on Wednesday (21/10/2020). The event invited Kasanita Ofa and Dwi Ratna Hidayati from Massey University, New Zealand, as speakers.
The Person in Charge of the event, Dr. Ernois Antriyandarti stated that the students of Agribusiness Program FP UNS who have taken Agricultural Development course and students of Agribusiness Program Universitas Trunojoyo Madura who have taken Agribusiness Institution and Agribusiness Development courses joined the event. This is because the higher education has entered the new era with the implementation of Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) strategy by the Ministry of Education and Culture RI. This strategy provides freedom for students to learn, both in term of competence and location that they want. Therefore, it removes partitions in the learning process.
Novi Diana Badrutamami as the Head of Agribusiness Program Universitas Trunojoyo Madura stated that this kind of activity will bring new learning experience for students. “This can strengthen networking and recognition both for Agribusiness Program FP UNS and Agribusiness Program Universitas Trunojoyo Madura in the international level,” Novi stated. She added that even though the pandemic poses an obstacle to conducting a face to face meeting in class, it also opens an opportunity to access the learning materials through virtual classes. Therefore, students have open sources to enrich their materials, both theoretically and empirically, from case studies in agribusiness development and agribusiness institution in New Zealand.
A similar notion was conveyed by Dr. Sri Marwanti as the Head of Agribusiness Program FP UNS, who stated that this kind of event will open an opportunity for students and faculty members of Agribusiness Program FP UNS in communicating and collaborating with other universities at home and abroad. “Moreover, student’s involvement from different typology (Madura and Central Java) is expected to provide in-depth scientific discourse,” Dr. Sri Marwanti stated.
