UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta graduates 1,474 students online on Saturday (24/10/2020). The graduation ceremony period V in 2020 was streamed through UNS YouTube channel and attended by students virtually. There were 862 students graduated with cumlaude or with honors.
“I want to congratulate and wish for the success of the 1,474 students who completed their study in the university, and became the first graduates of UNS as PTN BH based on the Governmental Decree Number 56 of 2020,” Prof. Jamal Wiwoho stated in his remark. Further, Prof. Jamal reminded the graduates by quoting Malcolm X that education is a ticket to the future. The future is for those who prepare themselves from today. Prof. Jamal emphasized that the graduates should use their knowledge and adjusting to the current condition.
“I think it is no longer relevant if, in this era of changes, we still adopt yesterday’s habits and perspectives for today’s solutions,” Prof. Jamal Wiwoho added.
In the ceremony, Dr. Edi Sukmono from the Doctoral Program in Law Science becomes the fastest doctoral student who completed his study. He represented the students to provide a remark. Dr. Edi mentioned that it is an honor to become a part of UNS and to have the commitment to bring the university proud name at the national and international level. He also conveyed his gratitude for his supervisors who have helped students to thrive on during their study. “Let us unite through Universitas Sebelas Maret membangun Indonesia Maju (Universitas Sebelas Maret to build an advanced community),” Dr. Edi concluded.
The occasion was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture RI, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P who delivered a graduation speech. He shared the changes during the pandemic and concluded his speech by inviting the community to maintain physical and spiritual health amid the Covid-19 pandemic. HUMAS UNS
