UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta rank went up to 401-450 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings: Asian Region or QS Asian University Rankings (QS AUR). This rank is based on the fact file sent by QS, global university ranking agency.
The Chief of UNS International Office, Irwan Trinugroho, Ph.D stated that officially the QS AUR 2021 edition will be announced by QS on 25 November 2020. From the fact file, there are 638 universities in Asia ranked in QS AUR 2021 edition. “From 638 universities, UNS included in the top 60%, a significant improvement from the previous edition in which we are in the top 81%,” Irwan explained, Friday (13/11/2020).
Irwan added that this result met the target set by UNS to enter 401-450 QS AUR in 2020. As for 2021 (QS 2022 edition), UNS target is to enter 801-1000 QS World University Rankings and 351-400 QS AUR. The significant improvement from the previous year that supports the improvement of UNS rank is the components of international students, the number of inbound student exchange, and the number of Scopus indexed publication per number of lecturers. Similarly, there is an increase in the number of citations in Scopus.
The Vice-Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan stated that this success is inseparable from the commitment of university executive board which then implemented through various world-class university programs performed in 2019 and 2020. Nevertheless, continuous improvement is taken, especially to improve the vital aspects in the assessment, among others the academic reputation, improving research quality and publication, and improving reputation in the assessment from graduate users. Further, UNS transformation into Public University with Legal Entity (PTN-BH) is expected to ease UNS journey to be a World Class University. “UNS is determined to become the best 500 universities in the world in 2023. This is in line with PP No. 56/2020 concerning PTN BH in which one of UNS objectives in to make UNS into an internationally reputable university,” Prof. Sajidan explained. Humas UNS
