Supporting Village SDGs, UNS PKM Green Earth Team Held Training and Assistance in Village Potential Mapping in Dukuh Village, Boyolali

UNS — Community Service Program Team (PKM) UNS Green Earth consisting of the lecturers of Geography Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta organized a training and assistance on potential mapping in Dukuh Village meeting hall, Banyudono Sub-District, Boyolali, Tuesday (24/8/2021). The event was attended by Radityo Sumarno as the Head of Banyudono Sub-District, Sri Sadono as the Dukuh Village Chief, village apparatus, tourism managers, managers of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and Dukuh Village residents. Also attending the event was the members of PKM UNS Green Earth Dr. Rita Noviani, S.Si., M.Sc., Setya Nugraha S.Si., M.Si., and Gentur Adi Tjahjono, S.Si., M.Pd., along with 9 (nine) UNS students.

The training assistance was conducted on-site with a strict health protocol implementation, started with an opening remark from the Head of UNS PKN Green Earth Team, Dr. Rita Noviani, S.Si., M.Sc., Dukuh Village Chief, and the Head of Banyudono Sub-District. In total there were 28 participants divided into two-sessions training. The first session was a material presentation on general information about mapping delivered by Setya Nugraha, S.Si., M.Si. Followed by training on digital mapping for the second session, led by Gentur Adhi Tjahjono. S.Si., M.Pd. A final product of digital mapping on village potential, previously conducted by the PKM team to support the village SDGs are handed over by UNS team to the village staff.

“Currently, each village is required to make a village potential map to support the Village SDGs. Therefore, we initiate this event to map the Dukuh Village potential and train the village staff to be able to update the data on the village potential,” said Dr. Rita. The training on digital mapping is a form of community service activities to achieve village SDGs implementation supported by the digital geospatial data and disseminating the effort to other villages in Banyudono Sub-District.

“Digital mapping will facilitates the village in administrative implementation with the help of technology,” explains Radityo Sumarno as the Head of Banyudono Sub-District.

“We thank UNS for helping us in mapping the potential of Dukuh Village and for organizing a training and assistance to help us in updating data,” said tutur Sri Sadono as the Chief of Dukuh Village.

All village apparatus were given the opportunities to practice the village’s potential mapping. Some of the participants successfully recording data in QGIS, thus establishing village independence. The training also discuss the development of a digital map of the village’s potential to achieve optimum usage in the future. Humas UNS
