Improve Creativity, KKN UNS Team Conducted Caping Painting Training with Elementary School Students in Kebumen

UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta Student Community Service Program (KKN) team held training for caping (traditional Javanese cap) painting for elementary school students. This training was held in the Public Elementary School (SDN) 1 Tanjungsari, Petanahan, Kebumen, on Sunday (29/8/2021). This training aims to provide a means to create for Tanjungsari Village children in improving their creativity amid the pandemic.

Tanjungsari Village is famous for its villager’s livelihood as kopyah and lambar entrepreneurs. Both are the components of caping or tudung. The training consists of materials on fine arts components, explanations on the technical aspects, and direct practice on painting.

“The technique used is water printing technique. This technique is a means to color or decorate objects even in 3D shape. This technique uses water as printing media and oil paints as coloring agents. Because water and oil have different characteristics, with water has heavier mass than oil, the oil will always float and water always below it,” Tegar Bima Prayoga, KKN Group 40 member, explained.
