UNS — Voca Erudita Students Choir (PSM) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, delivers a stunning performance in the Merah Putih Virtual Concert. The concert was broadcasted on Okezone.com Youtube Channel, Tuesday (31/8/2021). Reporting from Okezone.com, the event is a series of concluding performances in the Festival Indonesia Tangguh Indonesia Tumbuh conducted for the whole of August 2021.
Gabrielle Kirsten Ashteen, as the Chief of PSM Voca Erudita, explains that the choir delivers two songs in the performance taking on the concept of independence and folk songs. “The concept itself, we deliver two songs. The first song is about independence because it matches the Merah Putih Concert theme, and since it is still August, the independence day vibes are still strong. The second song is a folk song,” explains Gabrielle.
The two songs performed in the concert are “Ibu Pertiwi” composed by Ismail Marzuki and “Lelo Ledung” composed by Markasan, which was arranged by Voca Erudita Conductor Ardian Dika Adhyatma. The choir sends out 30 representatives for the concert. “At least there are 30 singers from the Voca Erudita choir who participated in this concert,” said Gabrielle.
In their performance, the Voca Erudita choir delivers interesting facts about the “Lelo Ledung” song that represents parents’ love for their children expressed through a lullaby. This song also holds a meaning so that the child can live happily and become the pride of their parents, nation, and country.
This excellent performance from Voca Erudita cannot be separated from their perfect preparation and training. After the rigorous training, the student choir must record video and audio to be processed into one unified video. Amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the representative members diligently train virtually. At the end of the day, the final performance presented by the team remains breathtaking and gorgeous.
