Care for Community Health, KKN UNS Team 302 KKN UNS for Mantren, Wonogiri Planted Family Medicinal Plants

UNS — Team 302 of Universitas Sebelas Maret, Student Community Service Program (KKN UNS) Surakarta in Mantren hamlet, Manyaran Sub-District, Wonogiri, planted Family Medicinal Plants on Sunday (29/8/2021). The plantation of Family Medicinal Plants was conducted alongside Mantren Youth Community, with an objective to improve the immunity of Mantren residents during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“During this pandemic situation, it is necessary for the community to maintain their immune system. A good immune system helps the body fight infections from foreign objects that enter the body,” explains Zakky Musthofa Zuhad as one of the community service program team members. Zakky, who currently serves as the President of UNS Student Executive Board (BEM), states that the initiative was welcomed by the Gunungan Village Chief and Mantren residents. The team managed to plant more than 50 medicinal plants in polybags. “The planted medicinal plants consist of watercress (Asturtium officinale), cat’s whiskers (Orthosiphon aristatus), red ginger, white ginger, red betel, green betel, and mint leaves,” explains Zakky.

Zakky expressed that his team wishes to help the affected community through this medicinal plant cultivation. He added that family medicinal plants can be used as herbal medicine and can be used by the Mantren hamlet residents at any time.

“Through this activity, the KKN UNS Team 302 hopes to help the community to maintain their health amid the Covid-19 pandemic. We also hope that these medicinal plants can be beneficial for the Mantren and Gunungan Village to preserve their immunity and health during this pandemic situation,” Zakky concluded. Humas UNS
