UNS – The Institute of Development and Quality Assurance of Education (LPPMP) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a workshop to prepare for national accreditation, titled “Evaluation of the National Accreditation Process.” The two-day event took place on Wednesday (16/10/2024) and Thursday (17/10/2024) at the Haris Mudjiman Building, LPPMP UNS.
The workshop featured two keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Sarwanto, M.Si., Head of LPPMP UNS, and Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the National and International Accreditation Unit. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Veronika Ika Budiastuti, M.Pd., Head of the External Quality Assurance System (SPME) at LPPMP UNS. The event was attended by academic vice deans, heads of study programs, heads of faculty, and vocational school quality assurance units, as well as administrative staff supporting national and international accreditation efforts at UNS.
The primary goal of the workshop was to evaluate the entire process of planning, preparation, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up for the 2024 national accreditation process. LPPMP UNS facilitated discussions where participants shared their experiences and addressed shortcomings from the 2024 accreditation efforts. The focus was on enhancing the accreditation rankings of UNS’s 202 study programs.

As of now, LPPMP UNS has achieved the target of 37 study programs with International Accreditation, 81 programs accredited as “Excellent,” and 49 programs with an “A” rating. To maintain this momentum, LPPMP UNS continues to promote its mission with the tagline: “Excellence and Synergy.” During the workshop, Prof. Sarwanto emphasized the need for study programs to continually develop their strengths.
“Programs that have achieved excellence must keep building and strengthening their core competencies over the next five years to reach international accreditation,” he stated.
Dr. Muhammad Rohmadi, the second speaker, provided an evaluation of the 2024 national accreditation process, highlighting the importance of fostering national and international collaborations over the next five years. This, he noted, would support efforts to secure “Excellent” national accreditation and international recognition.
“All academic vice deans, program heads, quality assurance leaders, and staff must work as a super team to maintain the excellence of their programs. Additionally, study programs must engage in international and national activities based on the Tri Dharma of Higher Education to bolster their strengths,” Dr. Rohmadi urged.
\UNS study programs have made significant strides in improving their quality. Efforts include enhancing and strengthening data within the nine criteria set by the National Accreditation Board (BAN-PT) and Independent Accreditation Bodies (LAM). LPPMP UNS is committed to guiding programs toward achieving “Excellent” and International Accreditation rankings step by step.
