In his remarks, Prof. Hartono highlighted several benefits of the partnership. “This agreement opens new opportunities for our students and faculty to learn, conduct research, and experience different cultural perspectives. This partnership empowers us to equip our students with academic knowledge and a global outlook, preparing them to make positive contributions to society,” he said.
The UNS-NEUST agreement will also pave the way for joint research projects, lecturers and student exchanges, and the sharing of best practices in teaching and learning. These initiatives hold significant potential for the universities to address real-world challenges, especially those relevant to Southeast Asia.

Prof. Hartono expressed gratitude to NEUST for its cooperation in realizing this shared vision. He hopes that the partnership will yield mutual benefits and enhance excellence and innovation in higher education. “We are very grateful for NEUST’s participation in this collaboration, and we look forward to building a productive and lasting partnership,” Prof. Hartono said.
Representing NEUST, Dr. Jo Neil emphasized NEUST’s commitment to advancing science and innovation, producing globally competitive graduates, and fostering inclusive societal progress. He shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that the planned student exchanges and joint research will focus on fields such as technology, environmental sustainability, education, and health.
“We are thrilled about this collaboration between UNS and NEUST. This agreement not only aims to enhance academic quality and value but also represents our commitment to making a beneficial global impact. Through student exchanges and research collaboration, we can bring new perspectives that enrich our academic environment,” Dr. Jo Neil remarked.
Under the memorandum, UNS and NEUST have agreed to facilitate student exchanges, international credit transfers (ICT), an International Teaching Internship (ITI), guest lecturers, research collaborations, and community service initiatives. The agreement is effective for five years from the date of signing. The collaboration aligns with SDG Goal 4, “Quality Education,” aiming to create an academic environment with global exposure and enhance educational standards.
