UNSCommunity Service Program (KKN) students from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta for the January- February 2025 period were officially welcomed by the leadership of the Madiun Regency Government in East Java. The reception took place at the Pendopo Muda Graha on Wednesday (8/1/2025). A total of 120 UNS students are participating in the KKN program across 12 villages in four sub-districts of Madiun Regency.

The event included remarks from the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni at UNS, Prof. Ir. Doddy Ariawan, Ph.D., and Interim Regent of Madiun, Ir. Tontro Pahlawanto. Key attendees from UNS included the Director of the Student Affairs Directorate, Prof. Dr. Ir. Joko Sutrisno, M.P.; Secretary of the Student Affairs Directorate, Danang Tomi Harjanto, S.Sos.; Head of the Sub-Directorate for KKN and Student Organizations, Dr. Singgih Hendarto, S.Pd., M.Pd.; and Field Supervising Lecturers (DPL). From the Madiun Regency Government, the event was attended by the Head of the Regional Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (Bapperida), advisors, heads of technical implementation units (UPT), department heads, and sub-district leaders.

In his report, Kurnia Aminulloh, Head of Bapperida Madiun, outlined two primary themes for this KKN period: “Education, Assistance, and Community Empowerment” and “Social Forestry Development in Forestry Areas through Empowerment Models.”

Prof. Doddy emphasized that the KKN program serves as a platform for students to apply the knowledge they have gained during their studies. He detailed the student distribution: 39 students in Mejayan Sub-District, 40 in Madiun Sub-District, 30 in Jiwan Sub-District, and 11 in Kare Sub-District. He also called on local leaders to guide and supervise the program’s activities in their respective regions.

“On behalf of UNS, I express my deepest gratitude to Madiun Regency for welcoming our students. We truly appreciate the learning opportunities provided across these sub-districts,” Prof. Doddy said.

Interim Regent Tontro Pahlawanto encouraged students to make the most of their KKN experience by learning about community life and exploring the local potential of villages in Madiun, Jiwan, Mejayan, and Kare. He also urged students to actively participate in the Musyawarah Perencanaan Pembangunan (Musrenbang), or Development Planning Discussions, at the village and sub-district levels.

“This is an extraordinary learning opportunity. During the Musrenbang forums, you will directly observe the processes of discussion and development planning with key stakeholders,” he stated.
