Indonesian Minister of Trade, also Distinguished FISIP UNS Alumnus, Plants Tree and Launches Kafisip

UNS The Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si., is a distinguished alumnus of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). He participated in a series of activities in celebration of the 49th Dies Natalis of UNS. The event took place on Tuesday (11/3/2025).

Dr. Budi arrived at FISIP UNS and received a warm welcome from the Dean of FISIP UNS, Dr. Didik Gunawan Suharto, and the vice deans. He planted a tree as part of the ceremony. He also launched the FISIP Alumni Association Office (Kafisip). Lastly, he delivered an Inspirational Talk during a national seminar.

Tree Planting Ceremony

Dr. Budi began his visit by planting an agarwood tree (Aquilaria malaccensis) in front of the M. Sartono Building. Assisted by the student nature conservation group, MAHAFISIPPA, Dr. Budi demonstrated his commitment to environmental sustainability. This activity also strengthened his bond with his alma mater.

Launching of Kafisip

After planting the tree, Dr. Budi inaugurated the FISIP Alumni Association Office (Kafisip). The FISIP Alumni Association placed the office on the second floor of the M. Sartono Building. The ceremony included a signing session and a ribbon-cutting event. This initiative aims to foster collaboration between the faculty and its alumni, offering opportunities for internships, certifications, and scholarships.

“The launching of Kafisip is a strategic step to build a strong network between the alma mater and its alumni. Through this platform, we hope to create more targeted programs and support the career development of FISIP graduates,” Dr. Didik said.

Inspirational Talk and National Seminar

Dr. Budi concluded his visit by delivering an Inspirational Talk at the national seminar organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade. Addressing hundreds of students, he emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in boosting Indonesia’s economic growth.

“I am thrilled to return to my beloved campus and be part of this special occasion. The Ministry of Trade and FISIP UNS are working together to bridge academic knowledge and professional practice. This collaboration is truly remarkable,” Dr. Budi stated in an interview with uns.ac.id. With this visit, Dr. Budi strengthened the alumni bond. He also inspired the younger generation to pursue excellence and contribute to the nation’s development.
