Awards Ceremony Highlights
UNS – The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta presented awards to outstanding members of the university community. These awards serve as a token of appreciation for their dedication and contributions to the university’s advancement.
The ceremony took place during UNS’s 49th Dies Natalies celebration, which coincided with National Education Day 2025. The university organized the event on Friday evening (2/5/2025) at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium. University leaders, UNS founders, faculty deans, lecturers, staff, and students attended the event.
“This offers a valuable opportunity to celebrate our achievements. It also allows us to reflect on our commitment to education, especially higher education,” Prof. Hartono, Rector of UNS, said. “Tonight’s event represents UNS’s gratitude to all individuals who have consistently contributed to the growth of our beloved university. We extend our appreciation to lecturers, staff, and students. They have played an integral role in UNS’s journey and transformation.”
Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) also presented several honorary awards, including:
• UNS Hymn and March Composer Award: Awarded to Josef Raharjo, represented by his daughter, Dr. Dewi Purnamaningsih Pribadi Susiawati.
• UNS Emblem Creator Award: Awarded to Drs. Sadjiman Eddi Sanyoto.
• Terima Kasih UNS Song Award: Awarded to Albertus Magnus Putut Prabantoro, S.H., M.Ikom.
• UNS Founding Pioneer Award: Awarded to Mr. Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Harya (KGPH) Joyokusumo, represented by KBRAy. Hj. S. Fatimah Retno Hapsari, S.H.
“These awards are more than symbolic,” Prof. Hartono stated. “They honor the dedication and legacy that have shaped UNS’s identity. I express my deepest respect and gratitude to all faculty members and staff. I also thank students and partners for their hard work, innovation, and collaboration.”





Moreover, Prof. Hartono emphasized the ongoing transformation in education. He referred to the 2025 National Education Day remarks by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The message highlighted that higher education must not only educate but also deliver impactful solutions and drive meaningful change.
“We must strengthen our commitment to the five core functions of higher education institutions,” he explained. “We focus on results and impact and conduct research that solves real-world problems. We apply knowledge for social and ecological benefits, encourage research commercialization, and ensure open and accountable evaluations.”
He concluded with optimism, saying, “With the DREAMTEAM spirit and ACTIVE culture we uphold, UNS will continue contributing to quality and impactful education.”
On behalf of the university leadership, Prof. Hartono also expressed appreciation to sponsors and supporters. “Finally, I congratulate all 2025 UNS Outstanding Achievers. Keep innovating and be a source of inspiration for future generations. Let’s continue to ignite the spirit of contributing to our society and nation. Let’s create positive change in pursuit of Quality Education for All.”
