UNS — Rumah Beasiswa together with Belajarin organizes a webinar entitled “Succeeding Overseas Scholarship”, Sunday (7/3/2021) through the Zoom Cloud Meeting and was broadcasted in Belajarin Youtube Official Account. High enthusiasm was shown with more than 180 attending participants.
The webinar invites Kukuh Mukti Wibowo, S.Pd., a student of Master Program in Mechanical Engineering, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), who currently serves as the Director Rumah Beasiswa and the CEO of Energy Society Corporation. Also attending as the second speaker is Dr. Eng. Nugroho Agung Pambudi, M. Eng., best lecturer awardee in UNS Science and Technology 2019, Monbusho scholarship awardee, CIMO, Bk21, 12CNER, INSA, EBARA, UTP, NCHU, Jyvaskilla, and many others. The moderator for this session is Ditha Mulia, KIP-K scholarship awardee.
The first material entitled “Confidence to Go International” delivered by Kukuh. Kukuh explains that many people want to receive a scholarship to go overseas. But sometimes they are challenged by their confidence. According to him to get a scholarship there four important aspects to be prepared that are prayer, dreams and goals, confidence, and belief as well as a positive thought. “Usually someone is confident when they are in their own country, in their environment, and their circle. But when they face a new environment, they feel inferior,” Kukuh reveals.
As for the preparation, applicants need to prepare language proficiency, CV and publication, extensive network, and exploring the world. “All of us have smartphone, social media account, and connected to the internet every day. We can get more information from these networks,” Kukuh explains.
The second material presented by Dr. Nugroho regarding “Tips on Winning Overseas Webinar”, which started with his valuable experiences and how important it is to have high goals and hard works. An overseas study has great benefits to develop individual competencies such as personal development, good networking, multi-language comprehension, high confidence level, greater job opportunities, better education quality, and colorful life.
“The benefits are you are entering an environment, which filled with people with a better future. Of course, you will be better,” Dr. Nugroho explains.
Further, he explains the various scholarships available that are awarded by foreign governments such as Monbukagusho by the Japanese Government, Fulbright the United States government and CIMO by the government of Finland. There is also scholarship granted by universities such as scholarship programs in All Taiwan University, Leiden University, George Washington University, and many others. “Good news is, every year scholarship grants never reduced but increased,” Dr. Nugroho reveals.
In his effort to earn a scholarship, Dr. Nugroho shares strategies to do. First, build a mindset to motivate us in actualizing our dreams to study abroad. Next is to start finding a suitable university and opportunity. Lastly, find a scholarship and create a qualified CV. Humas UNS
