Anvaya: Virtual Concert Presented by PSM Voca UNS

UNS – Student Choir (Paduan Suara Mahasiswa-PSM) Voca Erudita, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, held a virtual concert for the first time entitled ‘Anvaya, Gratitude and Hope’ on Sunday night (21/6/2020). This virtual concert is held as a form of concern from the PSM Voca Erudita UNS on the deterioration of the world condition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The theme ‘Anvaya’, which refers to ‘gratitude and kindness’ in Sanskrit, is chosen by PSM Voca Erudita UNS to represent their gratitude and hope in maintaining life and universe.
“We wish to present a spirit and deliver a message that this life will continue, therefore, we need to remain grateful for everything that happened and always wish the best for this life, this is in line with the theme of this concert,” explains PSM Voca Erudita UNS PR Yusron Avivi.

On a separate occasion, Hazim who serves as the Committee Chair of Virtual Concert ‘Anvaya, Gratitude and Hope’, states that PSM Voca Erudita UNS become the first student choir in Indonesia that held a virtual concert. Hazim adds that in this concert the PSM Voca Erudita UNS, putting hope in the community groups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to continue to be optimistic and surviving.
“Providing support and encouragement to everyone without exception, those who currently are affected by the pandemic and those who really need to fight or survive in pandemic times. We present the songs and arrange is as a story to become a kaleidoscope that summarizes that we have experienced this event or pandemic this year,” explains Hazim.

The Virtual Concert ‘Anvaya, Gratitude and Hope’ was broadcasted live through PSM Voca Erudita UNS Youtube channel on 19.00 WIB and watched by no less than 2,000 viewers. The slick and riveting offering from PSM Voca Erudita UNS is the work of 140 singers, which consists of 110 active members and 30 alumni of PSM Voca Erudita UNS. Furthermore, there are 2 conductors and 1 junior conductor, who lead the virtual concert, namely Redi Sabtono, Ardhian Dika Adhyatma, and Agata Martha Wardani.

A number of thrilling songs were sung by PSM Voca Erudita as a repertoire. The songs are, among others, Ibu Pertiwi, Sahut Namaku, Lelo Ledung, Bersujud Padamu, Karena Kau Ada, and Indonesia Pusaka.

Following the Virtual Concert ‘Anvaya, Gratitude and Hope’, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, expresses his pride and support. For him, this concert becomes a support for the nation that currently hit by a disaster.
“The motherland is grieving. If the Motherland grievance does not listen to her tears, certainly a lot of prayers can be real and we can do as many as we wish,” said Prof. Jamal.

PSM Voca Erudita is UNS flagship Student Activity Unit. Various international achievements were presented by PSM Voca Erudita to UNS and Indonesia, such as earning the 4th place in the Category 1D “Historical Period since 1911 to the present day”, 3rd place in Category 2A “Folk and Traditional Songs”, Price Choreography and Costumes, and the 4th place in the 31st Grand Prix Seghizzi during the 58th “Seghizzi” International Choral Singing Competition in Gorizia, Italia, July 2019.
