UNS – The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Central Java Province has granted the Baznas Scholarship 2023 to students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The scholarship distribution took place at the Hall of the Institute for Education Development and Quality Assurance (LPPMP) UNS, 4th Floor on Wednesday (9/8/2023). Prior to this, the recipients had carried out several selection stages to obtain this scholarship.
The UNS students receiving the Baznas Scholarships come from various faculties and levels, including vocational schools (SV), undergraduates, and postgraduates. The event was attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum .; Acting Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus., M.S.; Acting Vice Rector for General Affairs and Human Resources UNS, Dr. E. Muhtar, S.Pd., M.Sc.; Chairman of Baznas Central Java, Dr. K. H. Ahmad Darodji, M.Sc.; Deputy Chairman II of Baznas Central Java, Drs. M. Zain Yusuf; and Secretary of Baznas Central Java, Drs. Ahyani, M.Sc.
In his remarks, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho congratulated the recipients of the Baznas Scholarship 2023. He hoped that the scholarship recipients could maximize and responsibly utilize the scholarship.
“I would like to thank Baznas of Central Java Province, which never ceases to pay attention to UNS students through the provision of this scholarship. Hopefully, Baznas activities can continue to progress and spread kindness continuously. And in the future, may it provide more scholarships with a larger amount,” Prof. Jamal added.
Meanwhile, Dr. K. H. Ahmad Darodji, M.Sc., Chairman of Baznas Central Java, advised the scholarship recipients to become zakat (charitable giving) ambassadors, both to friends, family, and the surrounding community.
“We hope that the scholarship recipients can become Zakat spokespersons. For example, by encouraging people to give zakat. I also thank UNS for this collaboration. We hope that what we have done can be a good deed for all of us,” he said.
The event continued with the symbolic presentation of the Baznas Scholarship to student representatives. The event then proceeded with an orientation and introduction for the recipients of the Baznas Scholarship of Central Java Province for the year 2023.
