UNS – The Bengawan Unmaned Vehicle (UV) Team from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won three championship titles in the Regional-Level Indonesian Flying Robot Contest (KRTI) held online on 13-15 August. The three titles include first place in racing plane (RP), first place in vertical take-off landing (VTOL), and third place in fixed wing (FW).
With these achievements, the Bengawan UV Team has secured a spot in the National-Level KRTI, scheduled to take place at the University of Lampung on 22-27 September 2023.
Muhammad Naufal Zaky, the Technical Chair of KRTI Bengawan UV, explained that the Regional KRTI featured 50 teams in the RP division, 29 teams in the FW division, 32 teams in the VTOL division, and 72 teams in the technology development division.
“The competition format and objectives varied for each division. For example, in the racing plane division, the mission was ‘fast and on track’, involving a 200-meter track, carrying three milk crates in autonomous mode, changing direction, and landing within the specified time frame. The scoring was based on time and mission completion. In the Fixed Wing division, the objectives were monitoring, mapping, and autonomous payload dropping,” Zaky, the UNS Mechanical Engineering Study Program student, explained as quoted from ft.uns.ac.id, Tuesday (12/9/2023).
Zaky, the technical head, commended the hard work of the Bengawan UV team in the regional KRTI. He mentioned that they would prepare better for the National KRTI.

“Our preparations involve research and development based on the previous year’s findings identifying areas for improvement, and then applying them to the upcoming KRTI 2023. After research, we proceed to implement these theories into the vehicles we build. This implementation phase also involves trial and error, as real-world conditions are not always the same as theoretical ones,” he added.
He expressed his hopes for the best results in the National KRTI final for all divisions and categories they are participating in. Moreover, he and his team are committed to making the most of their preparations for the competition taking place at the end of September.
In this competition, the Bengawan UV team was guided by Dr. Ir. Nurul Muhayat, M.T.; Prof. Dominicus Danardono Dwi Prija Tjahjana, Ph.D.; Raymundus Lullus Lambang G Hidayat, S.T., M.T.; Dr. Eng. Syamsul Hadi, M.T.; and Ir. Joko Slamet Saputro, S.Pd., M.T. Humas UNS
