Celebrating the 44th Anniversary, UNS Committed to Accelerate the 4.0 Learning Reorientation to Increase National Competitiveness

UNS – For the celebration of the 44th Anniversary, the Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) organizes a series of events with the theme `Acceleration of 4.0 Learning Reorientation to Increase Nation’s Competitiveness’. The Rector of UNS Prof. Jamal Wiwoho mentioned that the theme implies that all of the civitas academics of the UNS has a shared commitment in developing the 4.0 learning reorientation to increase the nation’s competitiveness through the Higher Education Tri-Dharma innovation.
“We hope that the theme of this 44th Anniversary in 2020 can give encouragement for the civitas academics to adapt immediately and have the flexibility to actualize a learning system for higher education that aligned with the industrial demands and the world economy, this at time same time to actualize UNS as a World Class University (WCU),” said Prof. Jamal.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the 44th UNS Anniversary Committee, Prof. I Gusti Ayu Ketut Rachmi Handayani mentioned that the series of event for the celebration of the 44th UNS Anniversary can be categorized into four main categories, namely Community Service Division, Scientific Activities Division, Sport Division, Art and Culture, and the Ceremonial Activity of the UNS 44th Anniversary.
The peak of this 44th anniversary will be held on March 11, 2020, in G.P.H Haryo Mataram Auditorium UNS, with the agenda of the Anniversary Open Senate Meeting. For this event, the UNS Award will be awarded to Prof. Dr. K.H. Ma’ruf Amin (the Vice President of Indonesia) for his service in the sharia economy and an Arts Award for Waldjinah. During the senate meeting, a Scientific Oration will be delivered by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Head of the Research Board of the National Innovation (BRIN), Prof. Bambang P.S. Brojonegoro. The civitas academics of UNS who attended the Open Senate meeting will have to wear Nusantara traditional costume”, said Prof. Ayu during the Pers Release in UNS Inn, Monday (17/2/2020).
At the peak of the 44th UNS Anniversary, there will be a representative both from domestic and international universities. The guest who will attend the event is, among other, Prof. Ari Kuncoro from Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Panut from UGM, Prof. Runtung Sitepu from USU, Prof. Nur Hasan from Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Prof. Ganepri from UNP Padang, Prof. Mas Jaya from Universitas Mulawarman, and many other. Meanwhile, the guest from international university who will attend the event are the Vice President for Cooperation of the Universite de Limoges France, Prof. Celine Meslier; the Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Universiti Putra Malaysia, Prof. Azali Mohammed; and from the Universitas da Paz Timor Leste is represented by the Pro-Rector for Domestic and International Affairs, Luis Pereira Cardoso and Leonardo B.B Amaral as the Lecturer of the university. Moreover, the MIHO Institute of Aesthetics, Japan is represented by Charged in Job Placement Department and Emeritus Professor Prof. Masakatsu; the representative from Kokushikan University, Japan is the Director of International Center dan Vice Director of International Center.
Prof. Ayu added that for this year’s Anniversary Celebration, UNS will give the awards for 64 new Doctors and 12 outstanding alumni from each Faculty in UNS. The alumni are chosen through a selection and assessment for their achievement and are eligible for the award.
In this 44th Anniversary, UNS will field lecturers, students and alumni in the UNS Mengajar Indonesia program. The Person in Charge for the program, Dr. Djono mentioned that UNS Mengajar Indonesia is a teaching activity that will involve a total of 1,600 UNS Lecturers, the students who currently in their community service program (KKN) which totaled to 1,700 students and their Field Supervisors, as well as all alumni in across Indonesia, in collaboration with IKA UNS. As for the implementation, the program will be conducted in February for the KKN Students and their Supervisor, and for the lecturers and alumni will be held during February-March. Further, considering that there are UNS Students who held a KKN program in Malaysia, the teaching location will also include this location.
“This activity is a form of community service and commitment of the UNS to advance education and increase the nation’s superior human resources. The theme of UNS Mengajar is “Improvement of National Competitiveness Through Superior Human Resource Quality Based on Pancasila”. Each lecturer and student, as well as alumni who join the program, have to documents their teaching activities in a video with a duration of about 2 minutes,” said Dr. Djono.
The activities organized to celebrate the 44th UNS Anniversary among others are, a Constitutional Speech Contest among 7,809 Village Chief in Jawa Tengah, UNS Marathon 11K on March 8, Detik.com Goes to Campus on 4-5 of March, Flag Ceremony for the 44th UNS Anniversary on March 10, Tree Planting for the New Professor on March 10, Qoran Recital on March 12, Jalan sehat on March 14, Sebelas Maret Investment Festival on April 11, Khitan Massal (mass circumcision) on 27 June, and National and International seminar from various faculty in UNS, and many other events. Humas UNS/Ratri
