UNS — Faculty of Sport (FKOR) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta will hold Virtual Running to commemorate its 2nd anniversary and 75th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Sunday (16/8/2020). The Dean of FKOR UNS, Dr. Sapta Kunta explained that the event is selected as one of the FKOR 2nd Anniversary Commemoration because running is a cheap and easy exercise for all ages and can be adjusted to the health protocol to prevent Covid-19 infection. He added that Virtual Running is held as a means to support the Indonesian government program to achieve healthy, united, and to cultivate the spirit of sports in society.
Virtual Running participants can register through google form by filling personal information starting from age, height, weight, pulse, ID Card/student card scan. “There is a google form that participants need to fill, after that they will get the JomRun application. Then, they only need to run while activating the JomRun and the data of their run will be recorded, such as how far they have run for example 2.4 Km and for how long,” Dr.Sapta Kunta stated, Wednesday (12/8/2020). During the Virtual Running, FKOR UNS will tract the data and monitor the distance passed by participants through JomRun application. However, Dr. Sapta Kunta hopes that Virtual Running participant uphold sportsmanship and that participant does not cheat.
Dr. Sapta Kunta added that the event is open for all parties from university leaders, FKOR leaders, students, and public. The event received a positive response from the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho. FKOR prepared interesting awards for participants; 3 million rupiahs for the first place, 2 million rupiahs for second place, one million for third place, and 100,000 rupiahs voucher for the best 10.
